                       2018 Achievements


  1. a questimate of 60 EV’s added to the island (GHG = 225 Tonnes reduction, avoidance of the need for 67,000 litres of fuel per year).
  2. transfer of e-bike charging stations from us to Inlands Pathways.
  3. first local sponsor of a free public charger, real estate agent Sandra Smith.  Charger at Golf Course.  Thanks to Barbara.
  4. first commercial use of a vehicle, Dave at Silver Shadow with  BOLT.
  5. first dealer sponsored and highly directed education event.  Dave Harris of Nanimo Kia and Julian Sale of Motorize for a Golf Course invitation-only breakfast buffet.  Thanks to Markus
  6. Second time EV’s were featured in the annual Best of Salt Spring Magazine.
  7. first decorate your EV holiday parade (thanks to Tom). 
  8. A second Level 2 charger and Two Tesla chargers installed at Country Grocer.
  9. the bank balance is healthy.  Thanks to George.
  10. A Driftwood poll yielded that over 70% will purchase an EV next time
  11. Second cartoon in the Driftwood devoted to Electric Cars. Thanks to Dennis Parker 
  12. Rocking Web Site with info unique to SSI, business cards as appropriate
  13. Greater connection with Elizabeth May (Federal), Andrew Weaver (Provincial) and Initiated with Gary Holman (regional)
  14. And what to say about the first, and last REVolutionSS ?  Elizabeth May, Adam Olsen, CEG Education sessions, evening entertainment, Tesla restaurant event, High School Robotics, EV photography, 1912 Detroit (thanks to BC Ferries), Tesla Model 3 with Cameron Byers, NEV’s, conversation pits.  Exhausted core team.  Terrific Transition Salt Spring volunteers.

We now have sat back and have established our priorities for 2019.  Some of which are:


  1. EV 101 classes.  Thanks to Dennis Fortin
  2. Highly targeted informations sheets, posters and brochures
  3. multiple charging stations vs. singles.  Explore Level 3.
  4. refined dealer relationships
  5. emphasis on commercial (or higher usage) EV’s 
  6. Work as required with the CRD, CEG society.  Work smart rather than work hard.  
  7. and have even more fun (including a bigger parade)
