2022 is, and continues to be a very successful year of Electric Vehicle (EV) ownership
GLOBAL EV OVERVIEW
EV's are now mainstream globally. Sales are up dramatically. Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) sales are falling. A regular pattern is customers delaying an ICE purchase to get an EV. Expensive Superbowl ads now featuring EV’s (trend indicator ). The primary incentive is EV, not the current price of fuel, but the close to $2/litre for gas is an extra bonus. EV dealers cannot keep up with the demand. Some will not take wait lists beyond 2 years. European Hyundai Ionic 6 sold out in 24 hours.

The Transition Salt Spring - EV Group - 2022 Year in Review
MEMBERS: Jim Standen, Peter Lamb, John Newton, Markus Wenzel, Barbara Dempster, Dennis Fortin, Tom Mitchell, David Elderton, Ky Fox and John Holmes.
Year-over-year Salt Spring Island achieved a 40% growth rate in EV Ownership. As of Dec 31, 2021, we still had the highest density of EV ownership (by population) in BC and we were recognized by EV Friendly (see below). We believe we are on track to achieve the CAP 2.0 - 2030 Emission reduction goals for passenger vehicles. (NOTE: Our growth rate would be far greater but we were held back by the limited supply of new and used vehicles.
