TESLA - FIRST TIME BUYERS - PLEASE READ

You may take delivery of your Tesla but then have an immediate need to head out through traffic to the ferries or up the highways. This could happen during Winter or low visibility conditions.  Your safety is paramount.  Teslas have quite a learning curve and the folks at the depot try to provide one-on-one instruction, but with the rise in popularity, time is precious at the delivery center.  In any case, it can be a lot to absorb at once.  I recommend before you leave the lot, take time to locate and understand how to:
  • run the window wipers (left stick or voice or display)
  • run the headlights (especially auto)
  • adjust your outside and inside rear view mirrors
  • know where the 4-way emergency flashers are (in between the sun visors)
  • run the climate control system - ensuring during low visibility conditions, you have your window clear.  And heated seats and steering wheel (if you have one) for comfort and safety.  If you have interior steamed up windows, have the air conditioning setting on.

Consider sitting in the car for a few minutes and practicing each of the above a several times (before heading out).  Also adjust your seat position for comfort and visibility.

J1772 Charging Adaptor:
If you use the charger adaptor to use a J-1772 non-Tesla charger, it automatically locks the adaptor to the car.  You need to unlock it before heading out (using your phone Ap or the big screen).  Also, clean the adaptor periodically to ensure proper functioning.

===

We have literally tons of Teslas on Salt Spring Island and the owners are all friendly and approachable.  Please ask them questions.  At the REVolutionSS event in June, 2018, we took over the Twig and Buoy restaurant in Fernwood for 2 sittings of 100% Tesla owners.  We had a customized Tesla menu and a totally fun time was had by all.
