The Victoria EV Association - Salt Spring Island TSS-EV Group Tesla / EV Efficiency Fun Invitational Event
====================================================================================
CIRCUIT

Like the name circuit implies, the circuit goes round the island.  Our Funky, twisty farm field and for-esty roads are most entertaining.  Salt Spring Island has 5 mountains and 9 lakes, and more than a few beaches, so be prepared for scenery.  And interesting roads to up your FSD Beta application scores on.

RULES
There are no rules.

POSSIBILITIES
Feel free to stop at one of our many interesting locations (see list).  Lots of Farm stands with tasty organic treats, flowers and farm produce. Most are on the honour system, so bring some small bills and change.  The Saturday market.

WHEN ?
The event runs for the month of ? or on whatever.

HOW IT WORKS

You may enter the circuit from one of 3 ferries.
You may travel in a clockwise or the other way.
You may stop anywhere to view the sights or buy goodies.  Time is not a factor (unless your are trying to get the next ferry)
Your event stops when you arrive at your ferry home.  Feel free to drive the route twice, use your lessons learned from circuit #1 and divide the result by the number of circuits.

TIPS
    - record your ODO  and your estimate remaining range as you depart the ferry and when you complete your drive and head back onto the ferry.
    - need some Juice ? >. Check https://www.ssiev.ca/free-charging-stations.html
    - Multiply by X.Y to estimate the theoretical distance you car will go.
    - try not to speed in from of the RCMP station in Ganges.  Just sayin.
    - Wineries can destroy your results.  We have lots of them

FERRIES

    - Long Harbour (for members of the Vancouver EV Association and other
    - Vesuvius (for member of the Mid-Island EV Group) and others
    - Fulford (for members of the Victoria EV Society) and others

ENTRY FEE
If you paid to get on the island by ferry, you have paid enough.   Note: Visitors from Vancouver Island have already paid for a return fare.  Please don’t look like and idiot looking for the fare booth on the way home (Vesuvius and Long Harbour).

RESULTS
    - Please email: jstanden@ucalgary.ca with your results.  I will record them on our Web Site at: WWW.SSIEV.CA.  In order from most efficient to least efficient. As per our wonderful farm stands, your details will be submitted under the honour system.

HISTORY

Similar eco-events were held by the the Calgary Sports Car Club.  One time in the 1970s, myself and 4 others us climbed in and drove the route in a Fiat 600 cc multipla.  The calculations were : gallons/ton-mile.  You get more points with each additional passenger (tonnage).  Tiny engine and 5 big adults.  An assured win.  We came in last.

DRIVING EFFICIENCY - HOW TO DO WELL (from hyper-miling strategies)

to be the most efficient, It is all about driving at the right speed with limited acceleration and use of electric “extras” like heat and stuff.  You are welcome to use FSD Beta or full FSD (I have heard available in 2 weeks).
 -close windows
    - limited use of heat or air conditioning
    - Light right foot (drive like you are testing FSD)
    - maximum recovery breaking
    - TIRES
        - low friction tyres.  As in, not Winters or All Seasons
        - correct tire pressure
The event runs for the month of ? or on whatever.

================================================================================================

2). Audience - all nearby clubs or … beyond ?
3). Tesla or all EV’s. (DECISION = ALL BEV's).  No hybrids and we have no hydrogen stations on SSI, so not them either.
   4). When ?

- any day in a whole month of … example …. September ?  (Vic EVA could select a day, Mid-Island another day) ?
