We have a network of free public level 2 charging stations on Salt Spring Island.  The primary purpose is to provide charging capacity to tourists.  The secondary purpose is for locals, especially in times when they can't get to their home charger (a snow packed driveway) or they just purchased their EV and they have not yet purchased a Level 2 charger for their home.  All SSI residents are encouraged to install a level 2 charger at their home (see the "Level 2 charging" section).

CHARGING STATION BEST PRACTICES
               - ensure the charging cable is firmly attached to your car, and your car is charging before leaving the location
               - if there is a donation box, please support the location with a donation ($1/hour is adequate, $2 is generous, $5 is awesome)
               - please limit your charging to 2 hours
               - after charging, please return the cable and store it neatly.  If there is a holster, use it
               - if you have a SSI EV Charging Station Etiquette Card, place it on the dash while you are absent
               - do not LOCK your charging port (some EV's lock the port when the car is locked)
               - do NOT use the parking spot unless you are operating an EV and actively charging.   You may be towed away.
