Traction battery Tips (the BIG battery)
Some background interesting facts:
- The electric ferries in Norway are operated in the 45%-55% range all the time (and are charged zillions of times per year)
- EV replacement traction batteries are shipped at 50% (therefore EV batteries are happiest at 50% charge)
The. following tips can keep your battery healthier longer.
- limit the battery being at 100% to as short a time as possible.
- charge to 80% if it convenient and it meets your needs (or even closer to 50% if that meets your needs)
- I personally charge my Nissan Leaf and Tesla Model Y from 20% to 80%. Good for the battery (and I get regenerative breaking all the time which is not available when the battery is charged over 90%, for healthy battery reasons).
